Hello, operator? I would like to place a call to my old chicken coop....

Since leaving Austin I have been able to stay in perfect contact with just about everyone. I can make calls using a phone or even my computer and I am able to share photos and emails and keep up with everyone. Well, not my chickens.

Even though I know their adopted mom is really sweet to them and lets me know that they are okay, it isn't like I can hear it from them. I would love to sit with them one afternoon and have them roam around me and tell me just how things have been in through their cooing and chirping, clucking and little gestures. Watching their body language and how they look at me is the only way to really know how they are. Video wouldn't work,  I am not there.

Chickens never forget, at least mine do not. My roos in Del Rio aways recognized me when I stepped into the backyard of my Grandparent's home. After spending some time looking at them I would leave and as I walked away they would crow.  Since I have been in Indiana, I haven't seen a single chicken. Well except for when we passed a chicken farm and I caught them crammed in one of those long buildings.  It was a sad sight. Hello, operator? I would like to place a call to my old chicken coop...
